Mood Increasing Foods

Feeling a bit stressed and a little down? It could be your diet! And these foods can help.

1. Oats
Oats are used herbally as an antidepressant and mood enhancer. They are also a nerve tonic and help to relieve anxiety.

2. Fish Oil
There is a recurring pattern that shows countries who consume high amounts of fish (such as Japan) have lower incidences of depression. Studies on fish oil itself have shown its potential for reducing depression symptoms.

3. Folate (B9)
There are links between folate and depression, with many people suffering from depression having low B9. While it is still being studied as to which came first out of the depression and the B9 deficiency, eating foods such as avocado, spinach or beetroot that contain high levels of B9 will ensure you have healthy blood cells and energy levels.

4. Bananas
Bananas contain tryptophan, which is used by your body to make serotonin, which is a relaxing and mood improving neurotransmitter,
